Who: Who Gives a Crap
Where: Melbourne, Australia
What: Standard and luxury toilet paper, tissues, and paper towels in various designs.
About: Who Gives a Crap are determined to prove that toilet paper is about more than just wiping bums. Nearly 30% of all household waste is paper, including toilet paper, a lot of which ends up polluting the ocean. Since 2013 Who Gives a Crap has been making their biodegradable products with environmentally friendly materials, whilst donating 50% of the profits to sanitation projects around the world.
2.3 billion people across the world don’t have access to a toilet. That’s roughly 40% of the global population. This means that around 289,000 children under five die every year from diarrheal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation. That’s almost 800 children per day, or one child every two minutes.
Who Gives a Crap’s toilet paper and tissue products are made from 100% post-consumer waste paper (things like text books, office paper, etc), primarily sourced from schools local to the factory. No inks, dyes, or perfumes are used, with the resultant paper fully biodegradable, safe in septic tanks and as strong as it is silky soft. They also use 100% sustainable bamboo and sugarcane which is naturally fast growing and rapidly renewable. It uses far less water than trees, produces more oxygen, and doesn’t require herbicides. All the paper is only tested on the finest human bottoms.
