Ethical wedding rings, sea glass jewellery and personalised jewellery.
Who: Beachcomber Jewellery
Where: Ceredigion, Cardigan Bay, Wales, UK
What: Eco-friendly beachcomb inspired jewellery with rings, wedding rings, bangles, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces.
About: Designed and handmade by Kerry Hughes, Beachcomber Jewellery is a collection of ethically made pieces inspired by the spectacular, ever-changing colours and textures of the coastal environment of Cardigan Bay. She is obsessed with beachcombing and hunting for sea glass.
Her jewellery is handmade in her little shed using traditional hand tools, no harmful chemicals, and has no impact on the environment. Each unique piece based on sea glass has an organic look and feel with small natural irregularities, so no two are ever the same. She also uses recycled silver and gold, and ethically sourced gemstones.
One aspect of beach combing that’s not as pleasant is the amount of rubbish that accumulates on the beaches. The plastic washed up is so hazardous to wildlife, so beach cleaning is a huge part of the beach combing experience.
Along with a wide collection on her on-line catalogue, the designer will also do custom work, and in particular specialises in wedding jewellery.
