Operational Dates: Tours run from July to Aug. If the weather is calm and there have been recent sightings, tours can be arranged for private groups from April to June.
Duration: From 1 day up to 7 days. Accommodation on land.
Suitability: Min. age of 8. Under 16s must be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian.

- Explore a world famous basking shark hotspot.
- Regular sightings from April to June, with the breeding aggregation peak in July and August and then a southerly migration in September and October.
- You can choose to snorkel, scuba dive and kayak with the sharks, or just enjoy the experience from the boat.
- Take underwater photographs and videos.
- Contribute to an active science programme on every tour.
- Chance to see other wildlife including: dolphins, whales, seals, eagles and other sea birds.
Guaranteed Sightings? No sightings are ever guaranteed. However, all boats are high powered and can cover a lot of distance in a day. This increases the chance of encounters. The agency recommends 3-7 day trips, as 2017 sighting rates show: 1 day tours have a 75% success rate, 2-3 days tours have an 83% success rate, 4+ days have a 100% success rate.
Never snorkelled before? Full training is included. Basking Shark Scotland is a registered BSAC Snorkelling Centre #191.
Scuba diving: Available on 3-4 day tours
