The Way the World Learns to Dive
PADI is the world’s leading scuba diver training organisation.
Who: PADI Dive Centres and Resorts
Where: Worldwide (Global Headquartered in California, United States)
About: PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Dive Centres and Resorts are where scuba divers find diver education, scuba diving equipment and opportunities to go diving.
Find a Green Dive Shop: Some dive centres do more to protect the ocean than others. The PADI Dive Shop Locator makes it easy to find dive centres with green credentials:
PADI Green Star Award: Granted to PADI operators that demonstrate a dedication to conservation across a wide range of business functions. This includes water conservation, energy use, environmentally friendly transportation practices, use of sustainable materials, conservation leadership and a donation to conservation through Project AWARE. The Green Star Award identifies dive businesses that care about the environment and are acting to protect it.
100% AWARE: PADI started Project AWARE in 1989, a global nonprofit organisation dedicated to protecting the ocean. These 100% Project AWARE Dive operators are committed to engaging divers in education and conservation efforts, and ensure all their student divers receive the Project AWARE version of the PADI certification card. All donations received support ocean protection efforts and actions worldwide.
Sea Fans promote individual PADI dive operators around the world who are not only Green Star and 100% AWARE certified but who go even further in their ocean and wildlife protection efforts, such as setting up and managing marine protected areas or rehabilitating marine wildlife.
If you know a dive centre that’s going the extra mile to protect the ocean, get in touch and let us know.
Dive Training: Most PADI operators provide a range of scuba diving, freediving, cave and technical training courses from beginners to pro. Choose to train with a green dive centre and do your bit to help the ocean.
