How Sea Fans works

Ocean conservation made easy.

Our mission is to make it easier for people who love the ocean to get involved in ocean conservation. After all, there are many ways to protect the ocean and its marine life, and you don’t have to be a marine biologist to do so. All you need is to be a fan of the sea.

What’s your favourite marine life?

Are you mad about sea turtles, or can’t get enough of sharks? We’ve grouped ideas together so you can search for ways to help your favourite underwater creature. If you’re a whale fan, for example, you can search for ideas that will help you…

Are you a fan of all marine life?

If you like all marine life (let’s face it, who doesn’t), then you can also search for ideas via the different categories below:

1. Learn

There’s so much we don’t know about the ocean. We’ve got the latest books, documentaries, lectures and more to help you fill your brain with awesome sea facts, then dazzle your friends. After all, teaching others is part of the solution.

2. Take Action

There are people campaigning for a better ocean for all of us. Lend your support by supporting their campaigns or getting involved in citizen science projects. You may even be inspired to start your own.

3. Shop

Can shopping really benefit the ocean? Browse our ocean-friendly sellers and see. From jewellery made from old fishing nets, to clothes made from recycled ocean plastic. Every seller on Sea Fans does something good for the ocean. Supporting them means supporting the ocean.

4. Dive In

The ocean is an amazing place. A chance encounter with just one of its inhabitants is something that will stay with you for life. Discover ethical ways to experience the ocean both on land and in-water while still putting the ocean’s welfare first.

5. Volunteer

Discover hundreds of volunteer marine conservation projects around the world. Monitor turtle nests or dolphin populations. Survey the health of coral reefs. Gather data on manta rays and sharks. Help replant mangroves or monitor nesting penguins.

It’s never too early to start creating some little fans of the sea. Discover books, TV shows and more that will entertain and teach your little ones about the wonderful underwater world and its inhabitants.
